Psychological First Aid – anytime, anywhere and for everyone

A three-hour closed training for Danish Red Cross personnel interested in learning to provide care and support after a crisis event. Facilitators: Pia Lorentzen, PS advisor, Danish Red Cross, and Ea Suzanne Akasha, Technical advisor, IFRC Psychosocial Centre. The training covers:
  • What is PFA and why it is helpful
  • Applying the look, listen and link action principles
  • Looking out for yourself and others
  • Useful and absolute useless responses to someone in distress
  • What to listen for when someone needs emotional support
  • Dealing with worry and worriers
  • When and how to refer someone for further support
The training builds upon the PS Centre materials: A Guide to Psychological First Aid for Red Cross and Red Crescent, Training of trainers in Psychological first aid for Red Cross and Red Crescent, Module 2 Basic PFA and the newly released Orientation package: Psychological First Aid in times of conflict and uncertainty.
