The Asia Pacific Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Training and Learning Collaborative
The Asia Pacific Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Training and Learning Collaborative enables and supports National Societies to implement psychosocial support programs and activities in line with IFRC MHPSS policy and Guidelines through:
- Capacity Building
- Assistance in Emergencies
- Knowledge Management and Information Sharing
- Resource Mobilization for the Collaborative’s sustainability
Mental Health Matters
The IFRC PS Centre supports National Societies in Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania to provide mental health and psychosocial support to people affected by the international armed conflict.
It is done through trainings and mentoring in psychological first aid and caring for staff and volunteers and is funded by EU 4 Health.
The Asia Pacific MHPSS Collaborative
Addressing the Mental Health and Psychosocial needs of populations affected by crisis has become a prominent concern in international humanitarian assistance.

This video introduces the Asia Pacific MHPSS collaborative and highlights the importance of working together to provide MHPSS support in the region. In 2021 the Asia Pacific MHPSS training and learning collaborative was jointly established by three parties: IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office, IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial support and Hong Kong Red Cross.

The collaborative assists National Societies in capacity building, responding in emergency and establishing the Asia Pacific MHPSS network a platform for knowledge management and information sharing.

With the right support from their family, friends, teachers and caregivers, they can overcome feelings of powerlessness and become their own agency. Children are our future, and ensuring their mental health and wellbeing is a crucial part of their development.

Suicides can be prevented
Every 40 seconds, a person dies by suicide somewhere in the world. It is the fourth leading cause of death for 15 to 29 year-olds world-wide. Every year, more than 700,000 people die by suicide, and for each person who dies by suicide, an addtional twenty people are estimted to have attempted suicide.

But suicides can be prevented.
