Climate changes lead to disasters and all of us must be prepared to support others as well as ourselves during such difficult times. Extreme weather events such as floods, wildfires, storms, or heat waves are stressful and the advice offered in the new one-pager reminds the general public of what they can do to support their families, friends, neighbors, and community.

Ea Suzanne Akasha, MHPSS Technical Advisor

Responding to requests for MHPSS by affected Red Cross National Societies in Greece and surrounding countries due to the unfolding wildfire situation, with thousands of people being evacuated, the PS Centre has put together a simple one-page guide, offering advice on how to provide psychosocial support to people in distress during crisis situations.

For psychosocial support to people who have lost loved ones or are looking for their missing family members, please see the two Restoring Family Links (RFL) guides: Supporting people with missing family members (2023) and When a family member is missing (2023).
